EdTech Center: EdTech Strategy Sessions

Refugees and immigrants who come to the United States aren’t always able to leverage their expertise and training right away. It can be a confusing and disappointing process to navigate and choose from various pathways and opportunities. Gather ideas for new approaches as you hear about a promising program model to meet this need in the first lightning talk. Then, learn about what remote onboarding affords learners in terms of convenience, support, and persistence. Let’s learn effective onboarding strategies that support English learners, learners with Digital Literacy needs, and special populations. This strategy session is hosted by EdTech Center and sponsored by EnGen.

At EnGen our goal is to bring teachers together as a community of practice; a group of people who share a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact.

Manfred and Laura have had a long career of serving adults in various capacities across Minnesota. During our discussion, they will share more about their story as adult educators, their program, what gives them passion as teachers, and lastly they will leave us with some helpful resources and hints on PRONUNCIATION that educators can use with learners to support instruction.

Frank serves as the Director of ADVANCE in Lake Tahoe. During our discussion, Frank will share more about the programs at ADVANCE as well as how they prioritize "asking questions" to ensure the learner pathway is set-up appropriately to help students' reach their goals and achieve their priorities.
