What is the Writing Workshop?

The Writing Workshop helps you work on the writing that you need–for your job, for academics, or for your everyday life.

The Writing Workshop includes:

Part 1: Writing Workshop Assignments.

Submit a writing assignment to writing@getengen.com. A writing instructor will give you feedback and ask you to revise your writing or submit a new assignment. This is not a live class - instead it is asynchronous, which means you can do it any time.

Part 2: Writing Workshop Drop-in Tutoring Sessions

(optional).

Attend weekly collaborative group writing sessions via Zoom.

For learners with access to private classes*:

Part 3: Private Classes.

Review your writing assignment with a teacher before sending it by email to the EnGen Writing team at writing@getengen.com. Schedule the class on the EnGen platform at a time that is good for you!

*Many learners, but NOT all learners, have access to private classes. To see if you have access to private classes, log into the platform, click on "Live Instruction," and see if "Private Classes" is an option for you.

What can I work on?

You can work on anything that you want or need to work on. Here are some examples of writing learners have worked on:

  • Resumes

  • Academic opinion essay

  • Description of a daily routine

  • An email to a child’s school

  • An end-of-shift email report to a manager

  • A work email to HR about a timecard mistake

You can email the Writing Workshop team a draft of something you want to revise or request to practice a specific topic. If you don't have anything specific, that's okay! We will suggest topics for you based on your needs and goals.

We are here to help you and support you on your writing journey, so please try to write in English in your own words without the help of a translator or AI (such as ChatGPT).

How do I get started?

The Writing Workshop is done by email. After you enroll, you will receive an email with instructions. You can reply to that email to get started.

If you want to get started now, you can! You can complete the form below, but remember to carefully spell your email address.
