EnGen is proud to partner with The Michigan Global Talent Initiative to elevate a high potential, yet hidden talent pool: Immigrants and refugees, who now represent 1 in 10 workers across Michigan, and equip employers, adult educators, and workforce development leaders with career-aligned English upskilling at no cost across the state.

  • Who we are: EnGen is a certified B Corporation that delivers a personalized, industry-aligned, mobile-first English learning platform that connects speakers of other languages with English skills and job skills.

  • What we do: We offer 130+ on-demand English courses with support in 70+ languages, 1:1 coaching, and live group classes, in sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, technology, hospitality, e-commerce, etc. to connect learners with English and job skills simultaneously. 

  • How we work: EnGen has a proven methodology to advance learners’ English proficiency and job skills, and has been proven to improve employee retention and recruitment.

Program Requirements and Next Steps

All organizations that wish to participate will work with MGTI to determine eligibility and the number of EnGen licenses that are available. Organizations will have expectations around goal setting, an accountable point-of-contact, and regular reporting. If you are interested in learning more, please complete the form below and someone will contact you.

Employer: Goals could include hiring, retention, advancement of employees, and certification acquisition (e.g. OSHA). Partnerships with community colleges, nonprofits, educational organizations, other employers are encouraged. Requires the commitment of a learner coach.

Workforce Agency: Goals could include the creation of a new path to employment, support for clients in an existing path, career training, and partnership with an employer. Requires the commitment of a learner coach.

Community College: Goals could include creation of a new program aimed at obtaining a certificate, a new/existing program aimed at a specific job placement, or a new/existing program aimed at a degree. Partnerships with organizations outside the Community College are encouraged. Requires the commitment of an ESL (or other) teacher or program champion.

  • No, the EnGen platform will be fully funded through The Michigan Global Talent Initiative.

  • Learners must be work eligible to participate.

  • Learners will have access to the platform for 6 months.

  • Once learners are enrolled, they can download our mobile app by searching “EnGen” in the app store, or by using the following link to access EnGen on a computer. EnGen Link

  • EnGen is individualized based on a learner’s level, goals and interests. They improve their English by doing short, real-world lessons that are relevant to their goals keeping them motivated and engaged.
