Workshops are live, online classes available every day, at all times of day and overnight.
EnGen offers workshops for all learners on helpful topics—grammar, pronunciation, career readiness, and more!
In workshops, you connect with other learners in small groups, receive personalized feedback from your instructors, and get the help you need in a supportive and fun environment!

English level: ALL levels

Join us for a Learner Welcome Session! We will learn how to activate your EnGen account, find courses that are interesting and aligned with your goals, use additional services that are available to you (for example, workshops, private classes, and/or the Writing Workshop), and use platform features like the Grammar Guide and Word Bank.

English Social Hours are an opportunity to meet other EnGen learners and practice your English in an informal setting. Join to chat about everyday topics, share ideas, and build confidence in speaking. You can join anytime within the hour and say hello!

English level: Beginner & High Beginner

In the Beginner Workshop, we will learn how to use EnGen, discuss how to learn online, practice speaking English with other learner, and practice English vocabulary and grammar. We will discuss different things in each session.

Available topics: Introducing Yourself, Sharing Contact Information, Asking Questions, Giving Directions, Talking with Your Coworkers, Going to the Doctor

 

English level: Low Intermediate or above

In the English Grammar Workshop, we answer your grammar questions! Are you confused about verb tenses? Do you struggle with word order when forming questions? Do you need help with negation?

English level: Low Intermediate or above

The Career Readiness Workshop is for learners who want to improve their English for their career! We will discuss different topics in each session, such as interviews, writing a resume, and networking.

English level: ALL levels

The Pronunciation Workshop is for learners who want to improve their speaking skills in English! We discuss the pronunciation of words (with a focus on stressed vs. unstressed syllables), vowel sounds, rhythm and intonation of sentences, and more!

Available topics: Vowels, Syllables, Word Stress, Rhythm & Intonation

English level: High Intermediate or above

In the Advanced English Conversation Workshop, you will practice conversational English as you role-play real-world scenarios that will challenge you to think critically, use concise language to express yourself, and focus on the nuances of vocabulary and meaning in context.

Available topics: Making Small Talk, Giving & Receiving Feedback, Giving a Compliment, Making a Complaint, Consoling a Friend, Asking for an Opinion, Offering Help, Changing the Subject, Making a Recommendation, Agreeing & Disagreeing, Giving Advice, Accepting or Declining an Invitation, Asking Clarifying Questions

Heather lives in Colorado with her family and has taught for a decade across the U.S. and Morocco. She joined the EnGen team in Fall 2023 and loves teaching workshops and helping learners grow!

Grace is a virtual English instructor who supports adult learners through confidence-building and community-centered instruction. She holds a dual MA in International Education Management and TESOL and has lived and taught abroad in Spain, Ecuador, and China.

Ashley has over 15 years of experience designing and facilitating engaging workshops and courses for adult learners. She holds an MA in Applied Linguistics/TESOL, with expertise in intercultural communication and proficiency assessment, and has taught in Colombia and Japan.

James has an advanced degree in linguistics and has been working in international higher education and adult education for over 18 years. She enjoys helping learners to achieve their goals.

Tanya is an English instructor who holds a degree in TESOL. She has been working in education for over 12 years. She enjoys connecting with and supporting students on their English language journey.

Emmy is a passionate educator with 15 years’ experience. She holds degrees from Skidmore College and SUNY New Paltz. She enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, museums, concerts, and time with family.

Bianca has experience teaching children through adults, and her learner-centered approach empowers students to overcome low self-confidence. Bianca holds a MA in ESL and has teaching experience across the US, French Guiana, Taiwan & New Zealand.
